Our Favourite Things About Designer Banded Shades

Unique Dual-Layered Design

These shades feature two layers of fabric that continually rotate across one another. Each layer has alternating solid bands and sheer bands:

  • When the solid bands align → Privacy + light control

  • When the sheer bands align → View-through + soft, filtered light

This creates a seamless transition between open and closed positions — no tilting slats, no stacking bulk, just smooth, elegant movement.

Stunning Fabrics & Patterns

Designer Banded Shades offer a curated collection of fabrics, including:

  • Clean neutrals

  • Modern geometric patterns

  • Textured weaves

  • Sheer metallics

  • Light-filtering and room-darkening materials

With dozens of colours and textures, these shades can make a bold statement or blend subtly into the room’s palette.

Three band heights are available too — classic, medium, and wide — allowing you to tailor the scale of the pattern to the size of your windows and the aesthetic of your space.

Modern, Minimal Profile

These shades mount on a sleek roller, offering:

  • A clean, architectural silhouette

  • Minimal visual bulk

  • Optional square cassette or fabric-wrapped headrail

  • Perfect pairing for modern furnishings and open layouts

They create a polished, high-end look even when fully open.

Frequently Asked Questions About Designer Banded Shades

Before measuring, consider whether you want an inside or outside mounted window treatment. If inside, you’ll need to make sure your window is square by measuring horizontally at the top, center and bottom, vertically along both sides and center, and diagonally. Also measure the frame depth and take into account any window hardware that might obstruct the window treatment.

The final measure we will do for you to ensure a perfect fit.

Horizontal Application:

  • Width: 12 in. – 107 in.
  • Height: 16 in. – 120 in.

To ensure your window treatments fit perfectly and function properly, we recommend leaving installing to a Hunter Douglas expert.

There are many moving parts in any shade.  To ensure you have the right parts to fix your problem, contact us.  Our experience will guide you through the process with peace of mind.

  • Vacuum gently using the brush attachment on any vacuum cleaner.
  • Use a can of compressed air or a hairdryer on the non-heat setting to dust off shades.
  • Spot-clean shades with a soft cloth or sponge moistened with lukewarm water. Add mild detergent if needed. Blot gently to avoid creasing or damaging the fabric. Rubbing can damage fabrics. Spot-cleaning may result in cleaner areas.
